What is good parenting? Isn’t that the question that every parent wants an answer to? To be honest, there is no definitive answer to this question and perhaps there will never be. We believe that the best way to view good parenting is that it is a journey, in which you keep discovering new things. It is possibly easier to understand what bad parenting is. But as parent, I am sure you agree when we say that NOT being a bad parent does not equate to good parenting. Basis research on good parenting practices, we will keep sharing with you blogs and articles that contain tips on what might be construed as good parenting. For example, principles of parenting such as being consistent and being positive rarely go wrong. Communication with children that is open, responsive, clear and firm does play an important role in healthy child development. Children must be allowed to express their feelings. But they often need help in how to express their feelings in an acceptable manner. You must convey what is right and what is wrong in a reasonable way. Increasingly it is clear that there is no substitute to spending quality time with children. Being sensitive to the child’s needs and providing an emotionally warm and secure environment, will help children develop into well-adjusted adults and increases the chances of success in their chosen career paths. Praise, encouragement, and help are important to success. We also strongly believe that informed parenting is good parenting. Being informed and well-read will help parents to understand what works and what does not, adopt best practices from other parents and keep evolving.
