Cognitive development in children means constructing the information processing, conceptual resources, perceptual skill, language learning, and other aspects in a child. Cognitive development in children is a gradual process from childhood through adolescence to adulthood. Cognitive development includes four stages : sensorimotor stage (0-2 years), pre-operational stage (2-7 years), concrete operational stage (7-11 years) and formal operational stage (11-older). Cognitive development in children should be furnished during their early childhood period. Children of this age are keen in observing and interacting with the world. When it comes to interaction with the world, interpersonal skills play its role in the cognitive development of children. Cognitive development improves child’s listening skills, communication skills, negotiation skills and assertiveness. When it later comes to the workplace, we see that it is not necessarily the person with the highest IQ who gets the promotion. To succeed in leadership roles, technical expertise and IQ can be less important than emotional intelligence. So, we promote parents to impart cognitive skills in every child’s life.
